According to Sukhsagar, for the growth of the universe, Brahma ji divided his body into two parts, whose names were ‘Ka’ and ‘Ya’ (Kaya). From one of those two parts a man and a woman were born from the other.

The man’s name was Swayambhuva Manu and the woman’s name was Shatrupa. All the people of the world were born from the children of these first man and first woman. Being the child of Manu, he was called Manav. He had seven sons and three daughters, Priyavrata, Uttanapada etc.
